Intermedia

I’ve archived the journal of my time at intermedia .

Welcome to Chapter 2.

On Tuesday, I got straight back into it, and started contacting agents. I found Deborah at Choice IT. She is quite in touch with the ColdFusion community in Sydney and put me up for the small, but widely revered, Allaire/Coldfusion specialist daemon. I was trained by the principal, Geoff Bowers, at the 3-day introduction course not quite one year ago. The company is very well known (primarily since they are the only coldfusion trainers in town) but also for their ‘creme de la creme’ work. The approach is not to get bigger, just better. Hire only the top talent. I interviewed on Wednesday. It felt good. We closed on transport options and availabitily which could not be a bad sign.

I interviewed today with Nethead who are starting to fire with a contrasting university lab open floor plan environment. It looked very good too. Great experience on the ‘workshop’ floor with smart leaders, and room to grow. They seemed impressed with me too, and felt prepared to offer me something on the spot!

So I sauntered through town and found the agency, to drop in unannounced and meet the people. Deborah had heard back from Daemon, and Geoff was very impressed and is offering a position… start Monday. Wow.

I ummed and ahhed. Daemon has reputation and resources, small and elite. Single tracked with Allaire. Nethead offers broad, diverse experience, grow very quickly to a leader role and more streetwise. Easier transport options. Similar money. Tough decision.

I indicated that it would be extraordinary to pass up the prestige associated with Daemon but let me sleep on it, to be sure.

G’night.
