Welcome all to our new periodical. Very little to report in
this first issue, but we thought it was about time to fill you all
in on the details of the trip thus far.
The three day train trip from Vancouver to T.O. was a lot of fun
(except Ontario, "oh, look, another lake!"), and helped the holiday
set in. We spent two days in Toronto visiting with
our friend Candice, and we had our rather important interview
with Butterfield & Robinson in a huge office in the heart of downtown.
We are SO unworthy. They are still interested in us for some
reason, and in fact the meeting went better than planned. It seems
as though if they have sufficent openings, we are hired! Whew.
Following T.O. we spent two days in the tourist mecca
of Niagara falls, where we were excited for about a minute with
the sight of a large waterfall. We stayed two days.
After Niagara came Montreal , where we visited Isa`s friend Iza for
three days. By this time we were in serious need of a holiday from
our holiday. Seriously! Up at six and to bed at midnight daily, with
nothing but exercise in between. We took a rest in Montreal.
No longer looking forward to taking the train, we boarded for St-TITe
(no laughing, it`s a town) to meet with the family. Meeting with the
family is exactly what we have been doing, with parents, sister,
brother, uncles, aunts, cousins, cousins of uncles, etc., and a new
cake or pie at every turn. I`m in heaven. My french is grinding
into a slow and steady improvement with the immersion.
Today we went to Quebec city for the day to visit relatives, and
tomorrow is going away dinner (oh my god, another dinner!) for our
departure that night for Halifax via Montreal (another 2.5 days travel).
We will try to write again before we fly into the fray, so till then,
just remember that your pity for us is totally unnessesary.
Miss you all,
James & Isa.
